Our long term goal (10-15 years) is to develop radically new solutions: self organizing adaptive and robust products comparable to the low level of animal cognitive processes, similar in concept to those chased here: Robot Companions.
Our adaptive products strategy is based on cutting edge science advancement and understanding of user's needs: we think that real high-impact innovation comes from scientific breakthroughs and requires both a deep insight on the state of art in science and technology to go beyond it, and a deep understanding of economical and social needs (think to the WWW invented at CERN to distribute High Energy Physics data, to the radio, to the steam engine).
Our product development is tightly interwined with research applications development and consultancy. We want to identify the real problems and cope with them in a creative and innovative way, hopefully disruptively!
Our dealing with the issues of implementing 'real robots', as we envision them, is mainly focused on:
- the coordination of visuo motor intelligence in robot mobile video servoed manipulation;
- the self organization of 'intelligence' in loosely coupled network of agents as it can be tested in networks of robots.
